Psychological Killing

Psychological Killing

As humans we are a combination of a physical body, a soul and self / psyche. The soul which itself is a combination of emotions and intellect, when combined together on any judgment becomes a “self” which then controls the body to act upon the decisions of the self. The killing of the psyche can be done in two ways. First when you physically kill someone it is ultimately the psyche that dies and the second way is to kill the psyche only. The killing of the psyche is what is described in this lecture and why and how to kill the psyche so that the self is able to attain peace. This is a must watch lecture in order to clarify the misconceptions about Qatal / killing.

  1. Dear Brother Assalamualaikum. I am very small in front of your vast knowledge. I have gone through your few lectures.
There are three spiritual subtitles with our physical body. Qalb ( heart in English or মন in Bengali, Ruh ( spirit/ life. its presence in related to Tongue. The presence of life is expressed by your ability to speak). Naf ( ego/ emotion/ psyche . Our physical body is Container of Naf. The presence of Naf is determined by actions/ works). There are seven stages of nafs based on state of purification of Naf. Naf is mistakenly called as soul).
Followers of Musa had killed their nafs and attained purification.

  2. As per my understanding, It is our Naf who will taste the death. Our sins is related to Nafs. Naf has to be purified. Our prophet has been tasked to purify us in verses 2: 151, 3: 164 & 62: 2.
Ruh is the Amr ( command) of Allah. Ruh is breathed to our physical body in the womb of mother to start our second journey.
We have brone in Fitratul Islam i.e. in sinless state (Surah Rum : 30) . We have to die in sinless state to be successful.

Seven stages of nafs with reference of Quran

Nafs-i-ammara (the depraved, commanding nafs) is mentioned in 12:53

Nafs-i-lawwama (accusing or reproaching nafs) is mentioned in 75:2

Nafs-i-mulhama (the inspirednafs) is mentioned in 91:8

Nafs-i-mutmainna (the serene or assured nafs) is mentioned in 89:27

Nafs-i-radiyya (the fulfilled or pleased nafs) is mentioned in 89:28

Nafs-i-mardiyya (the fulfilling or pleasing nafs) is also mentioned in the 89:28

Nafs-i-safiyya wa kamila (Al-Baqarah 2:13) (the purified and complete nafs who acts like foolish person without any logic) are not explicitly mentioned anywhere in the Quran. But the notion of purified naf is mentioned in the few verses of Quran. Anyone attains this stage he acts as foolish person. Obey the order of Allah without any hesitation like present day robots. Ibrahim AS had surrendered himself without question like a foolish person (Al-Baqarah 2:131). Our prophet Salluallahu Allahi Wa Sallam had performed his tasks of prophethood as instructed by Allah without adhering to his egotism/ instruction of Naf. The reflection of Nafs-i-safiyya is apprehend in following verses

    Al-Baqarah 2:13
